Feb. 19, 2014—Only two more days til the Banff Film Fest kicks off at the Rio Theatre! These three nights of high-energy adventure and environmental film have been sold out for about a week now, but we've got two tickets to Sunday night's lineup, which offers a special treat for local mountain bikers: Cam McCaul and six other world-class cyclists on a balls-out blitz of biking tomfoolery in New Zealand. Not Bad is only 7 minutes long, but it starts off the evening and is bound to make a splash given this town's recreational druthers. Watch the trailer here:
The evening's featured film is Heaven's Gate, a story of wingsuit pilots attempting a fly through the dangerous archway carved out of the Tianmen Mountain in China. Other films include I AM RED (gorgeous scenery of the Colorado River with an equally powerful message), The Questions We Ask (Bruce Kirkby's stand-up paddleboard trip from Vancouver to Victoria) and Spice Girl, about British climber Hazel Findlay.

Great film about mountain biking
Singletrack High! This is a great film about the high school mountain biking league in northern California (NorCal)-- these kids embrace and get competitive about mountain biking in high school when many kids cease to use bikes as a means of transportation and recreation. These kids are amazing and their coaches, mentors and parents encourage these kids to bike their hearts out.
